When it’s gone, it’s gone
The TOFUtsies Limited Edition sock yarn, that is. When the current special color leaves our shelves, there won’t be any more. TOFUtsies yarn, from South West Trading Company, is 50 percent superwash wool. 25 percent soysilk fiber, 22.5 percent cotton and 2.5 percent chitin (fiber from shrimp and crab shells, with natural antibacterial properties). There will be a new Limited Edition color every two months.

Attention: Knitting wizards
July will be a big month for Harry Potter fans, with the newest movie due out July 13 and the last book of the series set for a July 21 release. What does this have to do
with knitting? Plenty. There’s still time to delight the J.K. Rowling fan in your family by crafting an Invisibility Shawl, Hogwarts House Hat or Wizard Robe. Those are just a few of the fun patterns in Alison Hansel’s Charmed Knits. And if you want to keep your wizarding life under wraps, you can choose from sock or sweater designs so subtle that only other Potter fans will identify them. We have only a limited number of copies, so you need to act now before they . . . disappear.

More choices for beginners
We’re trying out a new, more flexible schedule for our adult beginning knitting and crocheting classes. We’re offering more options—weekday afternoons, weekday evenings, weekends—and the chance to make up classes you miss at a variety of times. Here’s an example of how it works: You sign up for our four-session Thursday afternoon beginning knitting class but discover you have to miss the second session. You can make it up by attending a session of either of our other beginning knitting classes, though we’d appreciate a day’s notice of any change. We can even convert your makeup session into a private lesson. We’ll make sure you get full value for your class fee.
