Brown Sheep issues dye advisory
Brown Sheep recently announced that several dye lots of Cotton Fleece were not adequately rinsed. Some of our customers have purchased yarns from these dye lots, though we have had no complaints as yet. Brown Sheep advises that if you are using only one color in a project, continue and finish the project. Once you are finished, adequate rinsing will correct any problem. Use warm water and a mild fiber shampoo like Soak or Eucalan to rinse the excess dye from the yarn. Continue to change the rinse water—five or six attempts may be necessary—until the water is clear. Use approximately 1/4 cup of vinegar in the final, clear rinse. If you are using more than one contrasting color, dry cleaning is recommended to keep the colors from running. If you would rather return the yarn to us, we’ll be happy to give you a full refund. To find out which colors and dye lots are affected, go to www.limenviolet.com/blog/?p=1444.
