Neighborhood Fiber Studio Sock yarns are back in our neighborhood
It’s a beautiful day in our neighborhood because we’ve received a new shipment of lovely Neighborhood Fiber Studio Sock yarn. Karida Collins recently brought us some old favorites and some new colors (see picture below)—all named after Washington, D.C., circles, neighborhoods and other points of interest, including 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. These 400-yard skeins of 100 percent superwash merino make a pair of socks and are great gifts, especially for out-of-town friends who would appreciate a bit of local color. Stop by and see Rock Creek Park, Cooper Circle, and many other beautiful locations!

Egg-Stra Special Sock kits do their part to fight ovarian cancer
Skacel, distributor of Addi needles and a lot of lovely yarn, has put together a sock kit to benefit ovarian cancer research, and you can buy them in our shop. The Egg-Stra Special Sock kits contain one skein of specially dyed Trekking XXL yarn, special beads, the Egg-Stra Special Sock pattern, and an information card about the Marsha Rivkin Center for Ovarian Cancer Research. The kit costs $25, and all the proceeds ($15 per kit from Skacel and $10 from A Tangled Skein) will go to the center. The sock pattern (see pictures below) was designed by Rosemary “Chappy” Chapman. The teal color of Trekking in the kit is the official color designated to ovarian cancer, and every design aspect of this sock, from the cuff to the toe, is a reminder that ovarian cancer can be beaten. Please check out these very special kits when you’re in the shop.
