Liberty Wool trunk show and other new yarn news
We don’t think we’re taking liberties by describing our newest yarn from Classic Elite as scrumptious. Liberty Wool is a super-soft, washable wool with a balanced twist that is ideal for children’s projects as well as adult apparel. We have Liberty Wool in a variety of colorful prints, and Classic Elite has sent us a trunk show that will be on view through Sunday, Oct. 2. Don’t miss seeing–and touching–the hats, scarves and shawls created with this versatile yarn.
What else is new at A Tangled Skein? We love Nuna from Mirasol. This sportweight yarn, a blend of 40 percent merino, 40 percent silk and 20 percent bamboo, is perfect for mittens. Mirasol yarns are spun in Peru and proceeds help support the education of the children of local shepherds. Sitka, from Cascade, is a worsted-weight, 80 percent merino and 20 percent mohair yarn in natural colors that is warm and soft but not bulky. La Boheme, from Fiesta, is a hand-dyed yarn made of 50 percent rayon, 30 percent mohair, 14 percent wool and 4 percent nylon. This soft, thick-thin yarn comes in great colors and is a great choice for those scarves you’re planning to make as gifts this year. And finally, we’ve received a new shipment of Kauni Effekt, This sportweight, 100 percent wool yarn from Estonia has a long striping effect that makes it a great choice for vests, wraps and sweaters.
We’re still finding space on our bulging shelves for these and other new arrivals, so stop in soon and we’ll show you the latest additions to our inventory.

A new yarn and pattern every month with the Dream in Color Club
This is one club you’ll want to join several times over! Every month from September through March (skipping December), the folks at Dream in Color, makers of the wonderful Starry and Smooshy yarns, will be sending us 10 skeins of hard-dyed yarn and a pattern to go with the yarn. Once we’ve sold all 10 skeins, the yarn will not be restocked. The yarn type and colorway will vary each month, as will the price. Here’s how the club will work: As close to the beginning of the month as possible (we’re starting a little late this month) we’ll post the name of the yarn and a picture of the pattern on our website. Availability will be first-come, first-served, so as soon as you can, stop by the shop or call us with a credit card to reserve your yarn and pattern. The pattern can be e-mailed to you, or you can pick up a copy at the shop. This month, the club yarn is cashmere worsted in a purple and green colorway and the pattern is Fairy Knits by Maria Leigh, illustrated above. The cost is $30. Don’t let this one get away!
