Deadline for hyperbolic coral reef contributions Sept. 2

Our crochet coral reef is threatening to take over the whole shop, so it’s probably a good thing that it’s almost time to deliver to the Smithsonian the sea creatures crafted by our customers. The deadline for dropping off completed items to our shop is Thursday, Sept. 2.

The Hyperbolic Crochet Coral Reef exhibit at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History opens on Oct. 16 and continues until April 24, 2011, in the Ocean Focus Gallery on the first floor. Jennifer Lindsay, coordinator of the exhibit for the museum, says the contributions from A Tangled Skein and other area yarn shops will be displayed near the entrance to the exhibit in the Community Reef, which will have three areas: live coral, bleached coral and toxic coral.
